Gazprom Neft to decide on Iraqi Kudristan’s Shakal block in 2018

MOSCOW, Apr 17 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Gazprom Neft will decide on the future of the Shakal project in Iraqi Kurdistan in 2018, Alexei Vashkevich, director of the company’s department for geological exploration and development of resource base, said on Tuesday.

“We have finished drilling of a well and started testing it which will take around three additional months… Now we are performing comprehensive tests… and will decide on further development of the project until the end of the year,” he said.

Gazprom Neft holds 80% in the Shakal block and 40% in Garmian on the territory of Kurdistan.

In September 2017, the company said it had stopped the Halabja project due to development difficulties.
